Reiki is Japanese for “healing life energy” and indicates a healing practice founded by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century; it is a tradition open to any belief system and anyone can enjoy it in the normal course of their life, it can be received next to other treatments and it can support during recovery. As in its tradition, Reiki was passed on to me in person by Reiki masters: I took the first level in Sicily with Master Gabriella Saleema in 2016 and the second level in Amsterdam with Master Monique van Eijndhoven in 2020. During my psychedelic care I often work with Reiki extensively (obviously, only if this is wished by my guest), and I can also give it separately.

A Reiki practitioner works as an empty vessel for the Reiki energy to pass through them and reach the treated person: Reiki energy isn’t the practitioner’s personal energy, but universal life energy that would go wherever the other person needs. Reiki is loving and caring presence; it balances the body, the mind and the spirit, and it instils sense of peace and relaxation. It works by simply juxtaposing the hands over the body of the treated person (it can look or feel like a sort of massage), and, according to individual preferences, the hands can also just kept hovering a few centimeters over the other (rather than touching).

Reiki can be given in person or remotely (which clearly can be particularly useful through lockdowns and isolation).
